Don't miss the Inspector General when it comes back on February 9 and 10th at 1 PM!

The cast of The Government InspectorOne of the Theatre Academy's shows from last semester is coming back for 2 shows before they leave for the Kennedy Center Theatre Festival in Mesa, Arizona. The Inspector General by Nikolai Gogol was refreshed and livened by Theatre Academy Professor Tina Kronis and writer Richard Alger. The play is about a small town in Russia who gets a surprise visit from a government inspector which then exploits and satirizes their terrible morals and corruption. The director, Tina Kronis, brought this piece to life with a movement based play that feels like you are immersed in a Wes Anderson film. Kronis is also one of the founders of Theatre Movement Bazaar, a Theatre troup that pulls from Grotowski methods, dance, and many other elements to create a new genre of performance.

Actors in Russian period costumeThe Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington DC puts on festivals every year in regions of the United States to showcase the best plays from Colleges around the United States as well as offering seminars on theatre and theatrical elements and various competitions including the Irene Ryan Scholarship Competition. Adjudicators come from the Kennedy Center to watch performances of every show at the Theatre Academy every semester to select Irene Ryan Nominees as well as plays or musicals to go to the festival. From the entirety of Region 8, which includes over 25 Colleges and Universities, The Government Inspector was hand chosen by an adjudicator to be remounted and shown at the festival. To celebrate, they have put up the set to perform 2 more times before leaving for the KCACTF Festival.

Make sure you don't miss this opportunity, I watched this show in October and was completely blown away by the genius acting, directing, costume, and tech design! It will keep you laughing the entire show. Don't miss it!
