Students working up a sweat in a spin classKeeping fit as a student provides benefits well beyond just physical vitality. The stress release provided by movement classes is a proven value to mental health and in creating a positive outlook. Students find the interactive classes in Kinesiology and Dance also provide a wonderful social outlet on campus. Meeting new friends in a face-to-face class, is a terrific perk to working out on campus.

Taking a break for physical activity during the day in LACC’s Kinesiology Department not only gives you a one unit boost towards your academic goals, it allows you to stay on campus for your workout session.

LACC students are required to take at least one unit of Kinesiology and a health class in order to fulfill their A.A. degree requirements. But did you know that you can take beginning level Kinesiology classes that include Dance Techniques such as Jazz, Modern or Ballet to get your required P.E. unit? LACC also offers courses such as Yoga, Body Conditioning, and Bootcamp classes that fulfill this requirement.

Careers in Kinesiology

If you find that you have a calling to be a dance teacher, a personal or athletic trainer, a yoga instructor, a recreation director, or a physical therapist, the Kinesiology Departments AA-T in Kinesiology may be the perfect pathway for you to pursue. We even have a Personal Trainer Instructor class. The warm and caring department faculty can help direct you in the physical fitness career that is right for you. Attaining the AA-T degree provides a direct pathway to a California four-year college.
