Welcome to the LACC Visual & Media Arts Department
Our courses provide a foundation in visual, practical, and theory based knowledge.
The Visual & Media Arts Department faculty is comprised of working professionals who teach art, photography, and journalism as both a subject and an activity. We recognize the uniqueness of the individual and encourage exploration of their creative talents by emphasizing art experience and potential in a diversity of cultures. We emphasize the relationships among the arts and encourage enrollment in multiple arts disciplines.
We offer a broad selection of classes in a department that stresses an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach between its disciplines.
The Los Angeles City College Visual & Media Arts Department is committed to offering an extensive program of courses for students whose goals range from a career in fine arts, graphic design, art history, photography, and journalism to those pursuing personal enrichment. We offer an AA degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, an AA-T transfer degree in Art History, a certificate in Graphic Art Communication, a Vocational AA Degree in Applied Photography, Certificates of Achievement in Digital Photography and Photojournalism, Skills Certificates in Digital and Darkroom Photography, an AA-T transfer Degree in Journalism, and a Vocational AA Degree in Journalism.
Our two-year program aims at successfully transferring students to the University of California and California State University systems, as well as private institutions and to prepare them for professional careers in the Arts and Journalism.
