Academic Counseling

Counseling Appointments

Due to the high volume of students who would like to schedule a counseling appointment, we have implemented a priority system for appointment scheduling to best meet student needs. Counseling appointments are not available during peak registration periods and during the start of the semester/winter session.

Appointments are scheduled no more than one week in advance by visiting us in person during regular business hours (SSB 2nd Floor Window #19). Priority is given to the groups below. Same day appointments may be available due to cancellations and are open to any priority group. 

*Students who are new to the college and have completed less than 12 units of college credit MUST attend a Group Counseling Session

Monday, February 10 - Friday, February 28:

PRIORITY GROUP 1: Financial Aid Appeals (Extension/Reinstatement), Academic & Progress Probation, Academic Dismissal


Appointments available between
Monday, March 2 - Friday, March 13:

PRIORITY GROUP 2: Student Education Plans (SEP) for students who have completed 45 or more semester units of college coursework


Appointments available between
Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 27:

PRIORITY GROUP 3: Graduation Petitions for students completing requirements for AA/AS/ADT degrees by the end of spring/summer 2020.  

*NOTE FOR STUDENTS COMPLETING AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE FOR TRANSFER (ADT): Students who will complete requirements for an AA-T or AS-T by the end of spring and applied to for fall 2020 CSU transfer admission will have their graduation petition completed through the Transfer Center. Please visit SSB 2nd Floor Window #25 to inquire on the status of your graduation petition.

Monday, March 30 - Friday, April 17:

PRIORITY GROUP 4: Student Education Plans (SEP) for students who have completed 24 or more semester units of college coursework


Appointments available between
Monday, April 20 - Friday, May 1:

PRIORITY GROUP 5: Student Education Plans (SEP) for students who have completed more than 12 semester units. 


Limited appointments available between
Monday, May 4 - Friday, May 22:

PRIORITY GROUP 6: Student Education Plans (SEP) for students who need an updated SEP, and/or students with less than 12 units completed who have attended a General Counseling Group Counseling Session (GCS)


No appointments (Express Counseling only)
Tuesday, May 26 - Friday, June 12:

EXPRESS COUNSELING PRIORITY: Student Education Plans (SEP) and course advisement for summer and/or fall 2020 enrollment 


After you schedule your appointment:
  • Please arrive and check-in at Window #19 or 20 on the 2nd Floor of the Student Services Building (SSB) 5 minutes prior to your appointment. If you are more than 5 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and/or re-scheduled
  • You must bring unofficial transcripts if you have attended colleges/universities outside LACCD.
  • If you are a NO SHOW twice in a semester, you will not be able to book another appointment for the same semester without approval from the Department Chair.
