Alternative Testing Services

Alternative Testing Services provide approved accommodations for LACC course exams and/or quizzes.

Types of exam accommodations include, but are not limited to:

    • Extended time
    • Auxiliary Aids (i.e. Scribe, Reader, Interpreter)
    • Modification of physical space (i.e. Distraction-reduced and or noise-reduced space)
    • Alternate-text formats (i.e. Braille transcription, electronic media, enlargements)
    • High-tech and Low-tech adjustments

Alternative Testing is an academic adjustment or accommodation for exams and must be pre-approved by an OSS specialist or Counselor.

Alternative Testing forms must be initiated by OSS specialist or Counselor. The course instructor will complete the form and the process of delivering and returning exams/quizzes will be clarified by the instructor.

Completed course exams will be returned to the instructor via specific written arrangements made by the instructor and OSS Staff.

OSS students are not allowed to modify, deliver or return exams/quizzes, or modify schedules of an exam/quiz without signed permission on the pre-approved OSS forms with the instructor’s instructions for each exam/quiz.

OSS is committed to maintaining the integrity of the exam environment. The testing environment is carefully monitored and proctored. Any student suspected of violating academic integrity or other student discipline issues identified within the LACC student handbook will have their exam removed immediately and returned to the instructor by OSS Staff.

*STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE*

Students must arrange with OSS staff and their instructor for proctoring services 3 business days in advance of the test or quiz (5 business days in advance for midterm or final exams) to maintain the integrity of the exam environment.

OSS students are responsible for using their accommodation services and academic adjustments in a responsible manner. This includes scheduling exams with the OSS department and with instructors on using authorized OSS forms. Students are not allowed to modify, deliver or return exams/quizzes, or modify schedules of an exam/quiz without signed permission on the pre-approved OSS forms with the instructor’s instructions for each exam/quiz.

*FACULTY PLEASE NOTE*

In order for OSS to maintain the integrity of the exam environment instructors must complete:

    • the OSS exam questionnaire and submit to OSS prior to exam date and time
    • email your exam/quiz to OSS or make other delivery arrangements at least 24 hours in advance of the exam date
    • Exams/quizzes will be scanned and emailed unless the modality requires pickup and delivery
