The Veterans Resource Center - The VRC promotes an attitude of collaboration within the campus and surrounding community to increase awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning veterans. The goal of the program is to create an encouraging environment by acknowledging, honoring, and addressing veterans’ unique needs, while helping them attain their educational goals.

Program Learning Outcomes - Through active participation in Veteran services and programs offered through the VRC, students will:

  1. Discover campus and community resources available to veterans.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility through participation and involvement with the Veterans Club.  
  3. Demonstrate self-advocacy skills.

  • CSU Application Deadline EXTENDED!

The CSU Application has been extended to December 15. If you are eligible for transfer, make sure to fill out your application. Need help? Visit the Transfer Center (SSB 2nd Floor) or come to the VRC (LS101) for assistance. Here is the link to apply -

Academic Counseling

During Winter, academic counseling appointments are available for student veterans weekly in the General Counseling Department starting the week of January 7. To make an appointment, please contact the VRC every Friday morning at 8am (you may visit, call or email us). Appointments are made for the following week. Students will check in with General Counseling at their appointment time (SSB, 2nd Floor, Window #19).

Please note: General Counseling will be CLOSED starting December 17 to January 1. They will re-open on January 2. ***Express Counseling will be available from January 2 to January 4. You don't need an appointment for Express Counseling, just check in at General Counseling, SSB 2nd Floor, Window #19.


LACC participates in the VA VSOC program. The VSOC program aims to help student veterans and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers.  The VSOC counselor is available on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 4pm at the Veterans Resource Center.  Please contact the VRC to schedule an appointment.

Feeling stressed? Need someone to talk to?

U.S.VETS Outside the Wire provides free counseling and mental health services to student veterans and their family members.  Common reasons for seeking therapy include stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, difficulty with sleep or concentration, and problems adjusting to civilian life. A licensed psychotherapist from Outside the Wire is available on campus every Tuesday. To set up an appointment please email Helen Yum, LCSW at or call/text (323) 536-1767.
