Veterans Resource Center

The Veterans Resource Center promotes an attitude of collaboration within the campus and surrounding community to increase awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning veterans. The goal of the program is to create an encouraging environment by acknowledging, honoring, and addressing veterans’ unique needs, while helping them attain their educational goals.

Program Learning Outcomes                                                                                        Through active participation in Veteran services and programs offered through the VRC, students will:

  1. Discover campus and community resources available to veterans.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility through participation and involvement with the Veterans Club.  
  3. Demonstrate self-advocacy skills. 

Upcoming Events

  • VETERANS GRADUATION CEREMONY - MAY 16, 2018, 5pm to 6:30pm

The Veterans Graduation Ceremony will take place on Weds., May 16 at 5pm to 6:30pm.  Veterans (including dependents and spouses) who are graduating, transferring, or completing before August 31, 2018 are eligible to participate.

***Students who have participated in the Veterans Club will be eligible to receive a graduation sash.  Students who are graduating with honors will receive an honor cord.

  • VA Educational Benefits and Federal Employment Workshop - RESCHEDULED Please stay tuned!

Learn more about G.I. Bill benefits including Voc & Rehab (Ch. 31).  We will also provide tips on resume writing for Federal Employment.​

  • VETSUCCESS On Campus (VSOC)

LACC participates in the VA VSOC program. The VSOC program aims to help student veterans and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers.  The VSOC counselor is available on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 4pm at the Veterans Resource Center.  Please contact the VRC to schedule an appointment.

Feeling stressed? Need someone to talk to?

U.S.VETS Outside the Wire provides free counseling and mental health services to student veterans and their family members.  Common reasons for seeking therapy include stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, difficulty with sleep or concentration, and problems adjusting to civilian life. A licensed psychotherapist from Outside the Wire is available on campus every Tuesday. To set up an appointment please email Helen Yum, LCSW at hyum@usvetsinc.org or call/text (323) 536-1767.
