The Veterans Resource Center - The VRC promotes an attitude of collaboration within the campus and surrounding community to increase awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning veterans. The goal of the program is to create an encouraging environment by acknowledging, honoring, and addressing veterans’ unique needs, while helping them attain their educational goals.

Program Learning Outcomes - Through active participation in Veteran services and programs offered through the VRC, students will:

  1. Discover campus and community resources available to veterans.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility through participation and involvement with the Veterans Club.
  3. Demonstrate self-advocacy skills.

The VRC is now located in the Life Sciences (LS) Building, RM 101. Come check out the new space!

Academic Counseling

Starting Monday, January 7, 2019, academic counseling appointments will available to student veterans in General Counseling. For an appointment, please contact (in-person visit, phone or email the VRC on Friday morning at 8 am. You will need to meet with the counselor at your scheduled appointment in General Counseling which is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Services Building (SSB) at Window #19.

Please note: Express counseling is available without an appointment. Simply show up in SSB 2nd floor Window 19. 

VETSUCCESS On Campus (VSOC)

LACC participates in the VA VSOC program. The VSOC program aims to help student veterans and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers.  The VSOC counselor is available on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 4pm at the Veterans Resource Center.  Please contact the VRC to schedule an appointment.

Feeling Stressed? Need Someone to Talk To?

U.S.VETS Outside the Wire provides free counseling and mental health services to student veterans and their family members.  Common reasons for seeking therapy include stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, difficulty with sleep or concentration, and problems adjusting to civilian life. A licensed psychotherapist from Outside the Wire is available on campus every Tuesday. To set up an appointment please contact the VRC.
