Admission

Who may apply for admission?

You may apply for admission if you are: (1) A high school graduate, or (2) A person who is eighteen years of age or older who can benefit from instruction or (3) A student under eighteen years of age and not a high school graduate, under special programs. There are no other requirements, but we suggest that you enroll as early as possible. Although our classes always fill to capacity before the semester begins, we always make every effort to accommodate those enrolling in the first semester courses. If you are unable to enroll in Cinema 1,2,3 or 4, attend the first night and the instructor will add you to the class if there is room. When entering the Cinema Program, we suggest Cinema 1,2,3 and 4 (four classes) for the first semester. All four classes must be completed before you can continue in the Cinema program. For Television, we suggest TV 1,4, and 9 (three classes). See the  Spring 2012 Semester for the schedule of Cinema-TV classes and class times. Go to Cinema or Television for detailed descriptions of the courses offered.

New and returning students - How to apply for admission

If you are a new student (you have never taken a class at LACC) or returning student (you have attended LACC before but not for at least two semesters), the Admissions Office is now accepting applications for the Spring 2012 semester. For important dates see The 2011-12 Calendar If you do not live in the Los Angeles area, but are a U.S. resident, you may mail or fill out your application on-line. After the admissions office receives your form, an appointment to register will be sent to you. You can then present your proof of residency and social security number at that appointment. If you are in the Los Angeles area, we suggest you bring in the application in person or go to the Student Assistance Center (Administration Bldg., Room 105) to complete it. Complete procedural details are in the "Schedule of Classes" booklet available at Student Services Center. International students should apply through the International Students Center.
