About Materials and Their Fees


Please be aware that some Community Services classes have materials/handouts required by the instructor. All material fees are paid at the time of registration. Material fees are always optional. However, should you choose not to purchase such supplies or materials, your participation in the class may be limited. Community Services, LACC, and LACCD are held harmless from such fee disputes between the teacher and student(s).

Cake Decorating Supply List


3 Mixing bowls with lids for icing

Adhesive tape

Cleaning towel and a sponge

2 batches of simple buttercream

Simple Buttercream Recipe (Yields 4 cups)

1 Cup  of vegetable shortening

1 tsp of vanilla Extract

1+1/2 TBS water

12 oz confectioner’ sugar (approx. 3 cups)

1 TBS meringue powder

a pinch of salt (optional)

Instructor will provide the following: Plastic piping bags, couplers, piping tips, flower nail, clown heads, icing colors, piping gel, cakes, cake pads and parchment paper.
