Los Angeles City College is pleased to offer preparation packages for two industry-standard certification examinations. These are the CompTIA A+ Certification, which involves the essential hardware and operating system software skills needed to set up and install, maintain, and operate personal computers, and the CompTIA Network+ Certification which includes the technologies and skills for networking installation and configuration. The actual examinations themselves are offered off-campus by a third party. The certification examinations are prepared by the CompTIA consortium, a group of computer manufacturers including IBM and Microsoft. CompTIA continually updates the exams and ensures that they are relevent to industry's needs.

The LACC Computer Technology and Electronics group also offers its own certificate to indicate completion of a series of courses for the preparation for the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ exams. Students must receive a grade of "C" or better to meet certificate requirements.

PROGRAM IN CompTIA A+ CERTIFICATION
Los Angeles City College offers a program for preparation for the CompTIA A+ Computer Systems Certificate, an industry standard certification for those who work with computer hardware and systems software. Upon completing this short program, the student is fully prepared to sit for the CompTIA A+ Certification Examination.
First Semester:

Computer Technology 12 - Introduction to Computer Hardware

Second Semester:
Computer Technology 14 - CompTIA A+ Certification Preparation

Electronics 2 - Introduction to Electronics - for non-Computer Technology majors

Electronics 6 - Fundamentals of Electronics II - for Computer Technology majors


PROGRAM IN CompTIA NETWORK+ CERTIFICATION
Los Angeles City College offers a program for preparation for the CompTIA Network+ Certificate, the industry standard certification for those who install, configure, and operate local and wide are networks of computers. Upon completing this program, the student is fully prepared to sit for the CompTIA Network+ Certification Examination.
