Whether
your goal is a career or expanding your knowledge, we start at
the very beginning, with basic skills like how to hold and focus
a 35mm camera.
What you'll need:
—A 35 mm camera capable of manual settings for shutter
speed and apertures, and a lens that is between 50mm and 125mm.
— Supplies such as enlarging paper and film, with an average
cost of around $275 a semester.
We
supply chemicals, darkrooms, studios and most equipment, including
view cameras, strobes, etc.
Most
likely, you'll finish our intro class making pro quality B&W
prints from negatives you've exposed and processed yourself. Then
you can explore the options of color lab technology, photoillustration,
fine art photography, photojournalism, portraiture, digital imaging,
etc. Also, most classes in our program are directly transferable
as undergraduate units to the Cal State and University of California
systems, as well as other colleges and universities.
