Hands On Photoshop Tutorials
Doctor Thaddeus Ozone has created an incredible graphics site! Just viewing his site will motivate you. It's really worth your download time to check out his free "hands-on" instructions on how to do most of what you'll see there.

Computer Darkroom
Another great site is Ian Lyons' Computer Darkroom, from the U.K. Ian shows you how to use PhotoShop, and other digital imaging programs, in "real life" situations rather than academic minutiae you'll never use. Also, on his site are excellent unbiased reviews of digital imaging hardware and software.

Conventional Photography Techniques

The Luminous Landscape

Professional Photographers' Portfolio Websites

Los Angeles

LA Weekly
This free weekly paper also has a website, with a calendar section detailing all the art and photography exhibitions happening in town.

Chowhound
If you're a real gourmand (or just a big pig), you'll want to check out this food-obsessed site. The best part of this site is its extensive message boards, where hungry locals are posting tips and suggestions for where to eat in LA. Loooking for the best baklava? The tastiest taco truck? The cheapest steak dinner? Chances are, you can find out about it on Chowhound.
