Skill Certificate Learning Outcomes:

Certificate of Achievement:

  1. Arrange a commercial song.
  2. Play and improvise level 1 jazz scales and patterns.
  3. Perform with an ensemble in a public setting.
  4. Write a small business model plan.
  5. Use multiple recordings and sound manipulation to produce a score for an original DVD.

Level I Certificate:

  1. Recognize, write, identify aurally, and perform basic music notation.
  2. Perform assigned level one technical exercises and repertoire on the piano.
  3. Create a publisher-quality computer generated score.
  4. Perform with an ensemble in a public setting.
  5. Listen to live music and describe the styles and time period of the music heard, the names of the instruments, and their timbres.
  6. Produce and record an original electronic music composition.

Level II Certificate:

  1. Write chords, harmonize melodies, and sing and dictate melodies featuring simple chromaticism.
  2. Perform assigned level two technical exercises and repertoire on the piano.
  3. Perform with an ensemble in a public setting.
  4. Sequence and record MIDI, digital audio, and live performance.
  5. Listen to live music, contextualize the style(s) and time period of the music heard, and accurately describe the performing forces.

Level III Certificate:

  1. Write chords, harmonize melodies, and sing and dictate melodies featuring more advanced chromaticism.
  2. Produce a score for a video.
  3. Perform with an ensemble in a public setting.
