Welcome to the Social Science Department web site at Los Angeles City College. We are an intellectually diverse group of faculty members committed to educating students who come to our college with a range of abilities. We commit ourselves to lower and upper division instruction across the social sciences, with our major strengths in African American, Chicano, Asian American studies, Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology. Certificate programs include Chicano and African American Studies.
The Social Science Department's primary mission is to facilitate the development of students from all walks of life so that they may know the true nature of man's place on earth. Our secondary goal is to teach students three essential crtical thinking skills (outcomes): analysis, evaluation and inference. We do this so that our students gain the confidence to live richer lives and that they may transfer or seek employment in their chosen career.
We truly believe that we are doing the work of the people at City College.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
