Computer Aided Design Classes

Classes Offered:

Architecture 36: Introduction to Computer Aided Design - MW: 5:30 to 7:00p.m.

Architecture 37: Principles of Architectural CAD - MW: 7:00 to 10:00p.m.


Location:

All classes are held in the Computer Aided Design Lab, Franklin Hall 104.


Contents:

These classes are open to all students interested in how to apply basic drafting techniques to create drawings using the most popular Computer Aided Design software packages.

Topics include:

  • all draw commands
  • absolute, relative and polar coordinates
  • edit commands
  • levels or layers
  • elements, blocks, or how to create symbols libraries
  • dimensioning
  • text and text styles
  • hatching and patterns
  • printing/plotting techniques
  • introduction to 3D modeling

    At the end of Architecture 37, students will have acquired the skills necessary to produce architectural, mechanical, or engineering CAD drawings.

    Students interested in computer graphics, set design, or desktop publishing may want to take Architecture 36 to learn how to create simple drawings.
