Lady Cubs Struggle At Cerritos

Jan. 8, 2008

The Los Angeles City College Lady Cubs (3-12) found their second South Coast Conference interdivisional game of the season nearly to their liking, but then the Lady Falcons (13-7) kicked into their high gear and left LA City watching from the proverbial stands.

With 8:01 left in the first half, the Lady Cubs found themselves tied with Cerritos, 16-16. Cerritos then went on a 14-3 run over the next 4:58 to open a double-digit lead before settling for a 34-25 half-time lead.

Intense full court defensive pressure to open the second half strangled the Lady Cub guards in the backcourt. Numerous turnovers led to Lady Falcon scores and a double-digit lead that would not be relinquished.

Freshmen Latrice Klyce (Leuzinger HS) led LA City scorers with 15 points and five rebounds. Fellow freshman guard Roxanna Rodriguez (Hoover HS) added 14 points including 4-for-7 behind the three-point arc.
