The Lady Cubs (4-14) found smooth sailing in their win over LA Southwest. A 32-31 half time lead blossomed into a 15 point advantage in the second half before LASW called it quits. Freshman Latrice Klyce’s (Leuzinger HS) driving lay-up at 18:48 to open the second half jump started LACC’s momentum and a 34-31 lead. The Lady Cubs never looked back. LA City’s biggest lead of 50-35 came with 12:45 remaining in the game.

LA City was never seriously threatened by LASW from the opening tip-off. A series of scoring fast breaks and numerous offensive rebounds that led to second chance points propelled them to their fourth win of the season.

Marsha Haywood scored a season and game high 19 points to lead LA City. Latrice Klyce (Leuzinger HS) added 15 points while Luisa Bermudez (Hollywood HS) chipped in 12 points.

The No. 3 ranked Lady Mounties were not going to let LA City forge any hopes of a major upset as they powered their way to a 59-point victory.

The larger and 14-deep Mt. SAC roster overwhelmed the Lady Cubs on the boards as they showed their inside power with numerous scores around the basket.

Haywood, however, continued her torrid scoring pace for LACC with 15 points. Klyce was close behind with 12 points and seven rebounds.
