Lady Cubs Cross Country Season Begins This Weekend

Aug. 30, 2007

Young but talented is how Coach Mosqueda views this year’s Lady Cubs. Her first real look comes this Saturday, Sept. 1, at the season opening Riverside City College “Short Course” Invitational being held on RCC’s Moreno Valley campus just east of Riverside.

“We’re looking good and I believe we’ll be competitive,” said Mosqueda. “As with any young team that is getting to know each other, we’ll have a lot to learn along the way, but we should be able to field a full squad most of the season. This first meet may not have all the girls running because it is being held just before school officially begins and some are still in the process of enrolling. Otherwise, we should be pretty good.”

One key freshman to watch this season is Veronica Alanz, of Los Angeles. Alanz attended Southgate HS and has been one of the Lady Cubs most consistent frontrunners during the summer pre-season training practices.
