Lady Cubs Find Tough Going L.A. Pierce

Sep. 18, 2007

The Beaver Invitational, hosted by Los Angeles Pierce College, had its share of highly ranked teams that kept the Lady Cubs at bay. All the Lady Cubs competed well but fell short of their goal of reaching a top-three team finish.

LA City’s overall team score of 126 placed it 5th among the eight-team field. Glendale College captured meet honors. LA Trade Tech was runner-up.

Veronica Alaniz led all Lady Cub runners with a 10th place finish and a time of 21:00 minutes. It is her third consecutive top-20 finish this season in three meets and includes third place at the Riverside City College Invitational. Rosa Altomstone was next fastest for LACC at 24:14 and 27th place.

Other Lady Cubs included Izamar Serrano (29th, 24:22), Adelina Lopez (35th, 24:40), and Natalie Aguilar (58th, 28:27).

The Lady Cubs are off until Thurs., Sept. 27, when they travel to San Francisco for the Lou Vasquez Invitational held at Golden Gate Park.
