The Los Angeles City College Sports Medicine Department plans, coordinates and implements for the prevention, evaluation, therapeutic, rehabilitation, and emergency medical care of student-athletes engaged in intercollegiate sport programs at the college.
Sports Medicine Staff consists of a certified athletic trainer,
(Read Bio), and a varied number of student athletic trainers. An athletic trainer prevents injury or re-injury of intercollegiate athletes by developing conditioning, flexibility and rehabilitative programs; applying specialized protective strapping or bracing; and administering therapeutic and emergency first aid to injured athletes. Athletic training services are provided to all student-athletes engaged in their current sport program during practices as well as all home contest whether the site in on or off campus.
The LACC Department of Athletics' affiliation with the Division of Sports Medicine at Kaiser Permanente (through its Department of Family Medicine) enables the athletic training staff to provide the student-athletes with on-site evaluations by specialists in Sports Medicine. In conjunction with our Certified Athletic Trainers, our team physicians add to our ability to provide continuity of specialized medical care in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses facing our student-athletes.
