|LA City Loses Close Match To Antelope Valley College|
Sep. 25, 2007
The Lady Cubs are definitively improving and considerably more competitive in their second year under head coach Levik Abramians. This week, the Lady Cubs are seeking their first victory of the year when they play host to LA Trade Tech in LACC’s season home opener.
LA City dropped a hard fought, extremely close contest last week at Antelope Valley College. After falling behind 21-28 in the first game, LA City battled back to take an extra points victory, 36-34.
Unfortunately, the much taller and larger AVC squad sneaked to a 3-1 victory with narrow wins in the next three games, 26-30, 28-30, and 28-30.
Freshman Virginia Flores (Manual Arts HS) was a dominant force for the Lady Cubs with 20 kills, 11 assists, and two blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Nancy Alcaraz (Manual Arts HS) scored 10 kills and six aces.
Nadia Aguilar (Fr., Sacred Heart HS) added seven kills and four aces. Sophomore Nayeli Avendano (So., Thomas Jefferson HS) collected 16 digs alongside her three aces.
