POTTERY MAKING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Come join us for a fun and creative workshop. In this class the instructor will conduct two groups ages 7-11 and ages 12-17. In the 1st group students will cover basic handbuilding techniques that include: clay slab, pinch pots, coiling and glazing. In the older group ages 12-17 students will cover the basics of wheel throwing; a step by step technique on how to cerate cylinders, bowls, or cups. High fire-cone 10 glazing techniques will also be covered. Both age groups will take home a nice project. All students should wear old clothes and an old towel and apron. Class is held off campus. Material fee of $25 payable to instructor on 1st day of class. Early enrollment is encouraged as this class is limited to only 10 students.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR CLASS

Children between 4-9 years old will be singing together as Choir to learn the fundamentals of music such as Solfeggio, ear training, proper vocal techniques, correct breath techniques and discipline. The children will have an opportunity to perform publicly and gain a wonderful sense of pride, satisfaction and high self-esteem. Class held off-campus.

This class will teach toddlers ages 3-5 years old the basic ice skating skills needed to get them started and begin ice skating. No prior ice experience needed. All equipment provided by instructor. TENNIS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS

Develop a winning attitude with this lifetime sport. Basics are made enjoyable and simple, as they should be. TENNIS PROGRAM

Tennis instruction for adults. Learn or review the basics: the proper grips, the forehand, the backhand, the serve, tennis rules and court etiquette. Intermediate students should have prior knowledge of the basic strokes and rules they will focus upon improving ground strokes, serving and net play. Advanced by permission of instructor. HORSEBACK RIDING

Introduction to Horseback riding: Learn grooming, tacking, mounting, dismounting, horse psychology, saddling, bridling, riding etiquette, equipment and basic balance at the various gates. Our instructors have taught hundreds of beginners to take that first trot! Class is held off campus at The Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Students must be 16 years and older. Limit 8 students per section. Riders must weight less than 195 pounds. No enrollment cancellations will be allowed. First meeting is a mandatory orientation. Students must have TES approved riding boots – all attire to be approved by TES. Students are required to attend the Traditional Equestrian School (TES) tack class prior to 1st ride at TES - Wednesdays 7-9 p.m. and Saturdays & Sundays 1-3 p.m.

BASIC SILKSCREEN PRINTING- The Basics

Create and print your own cool T-shirts, posters, note cards and the like while learning the fine art of Screen Printing. You will participate in every phrase of the process and get plenty of hands-on printing experience. The class will then culminate with each student producing a one-color print of their own design. Material fee of $35 payable to the instructor at 1st meeting of class - covers all necessary supplies. Additionally, an optional materials list, vendors list and plans to build your own low cost printing equipment will be provided so you can continue printing on your own. Class limited to 20 students. HAND PAINTING SILK - I

A typical hand painted silk scarf sells for $25; a hand painted silk tie for $25 to $125, you can make them yourself for $5 to $7. There’s no end to the uses of painted silk clothing, pillows and other decorative items, including jewelry and more. Even if you don’t draw or paint, you can use scrunch technique or create your own design working from patterns. Find out how to properly stretch the silk on a frame, apply resist lines. Create colors, and use alcohol & salt effects. You’ll take home two 22-inch-square silk scarves, plus a stretching frame, bottles with tips, and mixing cups. Material fee of $15 payable to instructor at beginning of class. Bring a roll of paper towels, a cup for water and wear clothes you can get paint on. Class held off-campus.

METAL CASTING

An introductory course in metal gravity casting using cuttle bone, French sand, clay, centrifugal & vacuum casting using the lost wax process (no instruction on Wax Carving). GLASS FUSION – CREATE YOUR OWN JEWELRY

Learn how to create fused tiles or jewelry from glass. No prior glass experience is necessary. You’ll learn how to work with glass, assemble and decorate it using different colors of glass on top of each other. Your pieces will then be melted in a kiln to create magnificent artwork. BLOW GLASS GLOBES

Glaskolben, as they’re known in Germany make beautiful ornaments or suncatchers that reflect the light. You’ll learn how to blow your own glass globes, using different colors of glass, varying designs and creating various shapes. All the supplies and materials will be provided during the class to make up to 20 globes. Material fee of $25 to be paid to instructor at beginning of class. MAKING GLASS BEADS

Two great reasons to make your own glass beads: First, the simplest bead in bead stores cost lots of money. 2nd, it’s very easy to create one-of-a-kind designs that are all yours! You’ll heat glass to a molten state and fashion it around rods to create beads/buttons for jewelry, clothing, random wire votive, stained glass windows, mosaics and whatever else you can dream up. All tools and materials are supplied for the class to make at least five glass beads, including round, flat, tabular and bi-conal. You’ll gain a working knowledge of bead making and the ability to continue making beads of your own at home. Class will be held off campus near L.A.C.C. Women are involved in over 80% of all car related purchases yet many feel alienated or clueless when purchasing or repairing a vehicle. In this “hands-on” workshop, students will quickly learn how to check fluids, check tires, understand brake repairs and other common repairs. Discussion will focus on how to avoid the 4 most common repairs “scams” used to defraud the motorist. Wear old clothes and solid shoes! Class held off campus. In-class fee of $16.50 for a textbook.
