Good Monday Morning,

Our summer session is well underway. Our summer sessions are enrolled over 10% above last year. That is great work! We hope to maintain this momentum and boost enrollment for fall. We are planning a big enrollment event on August 12. Fall semester begins August 28.

Last week we had a great Juneteenth celebration including brunch, a film screening, music, dancing, food, and more in the Main Quad. We had a good turnout. Thank you everyone for coming! That rounds out our year of events and activities brought to you by the Race, Equity & Social Justice Center, under the leadership of our five faculty coordinators: Professor Carlos Guerrero, Professor Mikey Hong, Professor Erinn Horton, Professor Krystle Klein, and Professor Dylan Shields. Great year! We will resume again in September.

Next week the campus will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in honor of Independence Day. We are open on Monday, July 3, our usual hours, and then again Wednesday, July 5, regular hours. I hope you enjoy the holiday.

CHLA’s Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine (DAYAM) has a new youth leadership program for LA high school students. The Collective of Youth Leaders (COYL) will focus on leadership development, engaging with peers across LA and civic engagement. Recruiting is ongoing throughout the summer and the upcoming school year. Visit their Instagram page @YouthCHLA, to learn more. Link to join at: bit.ly/chla-coyl.

Our next movie night will be on July 20. We will be screening “Everything Everywhere All at Once” in the Main Quad at 7:30pm.  Join us for free food, drinks, and a movie.

BELIEVE. ACHIEVE. SUCCEED. Great work is happening every day!
