For over 70 years, the historic Van de Kamp building was a center piece in the community as a place of employment and where lasting friendships where formed. Since, 1988, however, the landmark structure has stood empty.

Thanks to the efforts of the Coalition to Save Van de Kamp and State Senator Richard Polanco, the building will reopen under Los Angeles City College as a place of learning. Again, the Van de Kamp site will nourish the community. But this time, through the doors of opportunity that are opened by higher education, career training and personal and professional skills enhancement.
