What is CTEC?

CTEC, the Community Technology & Education Center, brings the best low-cost adult vocational computer training from a variety of educational organizations to the residents of northeast Los Angeles.  Our mission is to introduce local residents to job opportunities in the lucrative Information Technology career fields as well as provide continuing education leading to wage increases.  We are a project of the nonprofit charity Community Partners and are located in the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens.

Computer Networking

Introduction to Computer Networking Software with Microsoft 2000:  Two courses that introduce local area networking using MS Professional and MS Server.

This program prepares students for the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) exam and for one of the two additional exams required for the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification.

The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) program, which offers training in the configuration and management of computer network switches and routers.  This nine-month course prepares students for the Cisco CCNA exam.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) offers training in the configuration and management of remote access, routers, switches, and troubleshooting. This course is 9 months and 10 weeks long and will prepare students for the CCNP exam. This course can only be taken with a CCNA certification.

Technology Preparation for Jobs and Further Education (Youth):

New Media University Academy (NMUA), a 20-week complete educational program for “at risk” young adults aged 18-21.  The NMUA provides training in entry-level computer graphics, hardware/software troubleshooting and preparation for Microsoft and Adobe certification tests.  Assistance with English and math skills is included as well as job placement assistance.
