Bond Project Updates

LACC Student Union building completion is scheduled for October 1, 2012. The Student Union will house the bookstore (The Cub Store) a Convenience Store (The Hungry Cub), a food court and a coffee shop on the first floor. The food court and coffee shop are out to bid with a district wide request for proposal and we are anticipating the opening to occur in Spring 2013.

• Learning Support Center has not been released from the LACCD Build program/Moratorium. However, the delay with the LSC is expected to be released soon, making LACC construction projects back on track and moving forward.

• The New Student Services Center (Old MLK Library) and Holmes Hall projects were released from the Moratorium as of August 2012. Both construction projects are underway. Harris & Associates are working swiftly to complete the renovations on time.

• The Plant Facilities Building and Tennis Court projects are back on track as of September 2012. These projects are slated for the area just south of the New Student Union Building in the center of what used to be the old golf driving range.

• Martin Luther King Jr. Library is a state funded project and not a bond project, was finally LEED Certified early September 2012.

• The Health, Fitness, PE Building located north/west of the Rad-Tech building is currently under construction. In spite of the delays, the building is expected to be completed by Fall 2013.

• Clausen Hall is currently going through renovation and is experiencing some delays. The building is expected to be accessible to students, faculty and staff by Spring 2013.

Plans and specifications for Da Vinci Hall Modernization have been submitted by Harris & Associates and is under review to start working on. Completion of this building is expected by Summer 2013.

Lastly, the Cesar Chavez Administration building which has been long overdue for modernization, planning has started. Plans will need approval from LACCD Board of Trustees.
