Business Administration BOND ADVISORY COMMITTEE
3/28/05 Meeting Highlights:
· Budget Update: BLL distributed copies of the updated LACC Master Budget. The most notable change in the budget is to the Franklin Hall modernization project. We are adjusting the Franklin Hall budget to supplement the PE Parking Structure construction budget. In an effort to prevent a re-bid situation, we are funding the PE project to accommodate the worst case (highest) cost estimate. The parking structure must be built in order to comply with EIR parking requirements and to provide an athletic field and M&O / Receiving facilities. Franklin Hall has an application filed with the State for additional funding that will be used to re-fund the project. Currently, Clausen Hall, DaVinci Hall, and Cesar Chavez are not funded. There was an additional loss of funds due to the District pulling SMP funds that were planned for this campus.
· Schedule Update: BLL distributed copies of the updated LACC Master Schedule. BLL is currently working on options to compress the total bond program duration. Phase I of the Restrooms Modernization has gotten DSA sign off and will open shortly. Pre-Construction Conferences for the contractors performing the work for the Temporary Student Center and the Demolition of the Bleachers will be held in the next few weeks. The plans for the Demolition of the Chemistry Building were presented to the Board of Trustees Infrastructure Committee and approved. The Student Admissions Parking Garage and the PE Parking Garage are anticipated to go for first bid advertisement on 4/8/05.
· Bond Advisory Meeting Times: Due to a mandated meeting that BLL leadership has with DMJM/JGM on Mondays during the months of April and May, the Prop A/AA Advisory Committee will meet on the 2nd and if needed, the 4th Thursdays of the month during April and May. These additional meetings are for Business Process Reengineering (BPR). All of the campus construction management firms working on bond projects will be in attendance. The focus of the BPR effort is to streamline the process of getting projects from conception to construction and thereby saving time. Regularly scheduled Monday meetings will resume in June. The meeting the second Thursday of the month will begin at 1:30 p.m. The meeting on the 4th Thursday, if needed, will begin at 3 p.m. The whole campus is invited to attend.
