Tours of the campus,
same-day admission, help in selecting classes and face-to-face time with
faculty and students are just some of the highlights of the August 27th
“Preview Day” at Los Angeles City College (LACC), set from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
on campus at 855 N. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles.
“This all-day event
is a great way for our community and prospective students to get to know us
better,” LACC President Dr. Jamillah Moore said. “Along with the tours,
we’ll have workshops on how to let the most out of our campus services and
how to benefit from financial aid. We invite everyone to visit our campus
and see how much L.A. City College has to offer.”
Students will
start building their futures as Los Angeles City College finishes building
its new facilities in the 2008-2009 school year, which officially begins
September 2nd.
“It’s not too
late to enroll and take advantage of our new library, parking, child
development and science facilities.” Moore said. “Our new Martin Luther King
Jr. Library opened this summer. Educating yourself into a new career is
vital. I’m sure Dr. King would approve of LA City College’s vision and we
are proud our new library bares his name.”
LACC’s
new Child Development Building will open in December. There, students will
learn early childhood education techniques and the college’s student-parents
will have safe childcare while they are taking classes.
LACC is
the home to over 15,000 full time students with small class sizes and
quality faculty. LACC is the original home to UCLA and provides transferable
opportunities to all students.
One of
the most diverse campuses in the 109-campus California Community College
System, LACC is located adjacent to the Central Los Angeles, Koreatown,
Filipinotown and Little Armenia areas of the city. Classes are offered
year-round at only $20 a unit and financial aid is available to students who
qualify. For more information, visit
