Library opened June 23, 2008 at the northeast end of
The MLK Library offers campus users access to a
collection of 150,000 books, 130 periodical and newspaper subscriptions, online
databases, and microforms. Remote
access to online databases is provided for students enrolled in the current
semester or session and for faculty.

Circulation/Periodicals
The Circulation/Periodicals Desk is located on the
first floor of the library. From
this desk, you can check out books from the general collection, textbooks,
reserve material, and request magazines,
newspapers, and microfilm for in house use. Current magazines and newspapers are
located on display shelves across from the Circulation/ Periodicals desk with
lounge chairs and table seating.

Black-and-white photocopy machines are located in the
Black-and-white printing is available at the Print Stations on the first and second floors. A color copier is available at the Second floor Print Station, as well as a color printer. For printing, you can pay
with coins, dollar bills, or from your student account. A machine to add value to your student
account is located on the second floor near the Print Station. For photocopying, you can pay with coins
or dollar bills.

The building has wireless access and electrical outlets
for students bringing in their own computers. On the first floor, the library provides
36 student computers, 5 public computers (with time limits), and 1 computer
dedicated to online book catalog search.
On the second floor, 150 student computers are available. Students must log in to use the student
computers and for wireless access.

Technical Services
Technical Services is located on the second floor of
the library. This department orders
and catalogs the books.

Loan Periods:
Library Cards:
Library materials circulate to LACC students enrolled
in the current semester and to college employees. The Library does not issue individual
cards to students. All students are
expected to present the LACC Cub ID card or an official current Registration
Receipt plus one other current form of picture identification to obtain library
materials. (Ask library employee
which IDs are acceptable.) LACC Cub
ID card can be obtained from the
ITV students may check out textbooks for 2 hours (use
in Library) with either a current California ID, current
College employees must complete an MLK Library Card
Application and show a valid LACC Cub Card ID for Faculty or Staff in order to
obtain a library card.
Overdue Fines:
Library materials kept past their due date are
subject to the following fine schedule.
Lost Materials:
All library users are responsible for lost library
materials. The replacement policy
is as follows.
Damaged Materials:
Items which the Library judges to have been damaged
by the borrower shall be evaluated by the Circulation/Periodicals Department
and repair or replacement fees will be assessed based on the extent of the
damage.
Library Holds:
Students with outstanding fines will not be allowed
Library circulation privileges. If
fines are not paid, students’ records will be placed on hold, and this
will prevent any Admissions Offices processing, including, but not limited to,
future registration, issuing of grades or transcripts, and graduation from the
college.
