Los Angeles City College Library Expanded Academic ASAP Tutorial |
Relevance search bypasses the subject index and looks for your terms (and its variant spellings) to appear in articles. Each term is analyzed for its relevancy which is measured by the frequency of use. That means, articles are assigned a higher relevancy score when they contain the search terms more often.
You have two options of searching for your topic:
1. In the title, citation, and abstract
2. In the entire article content
For this search we have chosen the second option because relevance search is most useful when searching the entire content (full text) of database articles.
For example you are looking for articles about healthcare careers:
Relevance search results are displayed in relevance order, that means most relevant articles are displayed first, the least relevant are displayed last.
