Los Angeles City College is committed to providing educational opportunities to diverse populations.  It is the goal of the college to offer mainstream education whenever possible.  Since independence is encouraged, no student is obligated to accept supportive assistance; however, the college is committed to providing support service when and if such support is needed and requested.  Students needing assistance, even on a temporary basis, are urged to make use of the Office of Special Services.
