Each potential tutor takes a “Tutor Theory
Class” to become a certified tutor in a
certain discipline.
Potential tutors have their transcripts
reviewed for grades “A” or “B” in their
tutoring subject area.
Recommendations from professors are evaluated.
Requesting
tutoring
Each student has to show proof of being a
member of TRIO or EOP&S
Student has to find out what areas of
discipline are offered
Student can request 2, one hour private 1-on-1
appointments per subject, per semester
Walk-ins are available with limited time
durations
Appointments are made in the front desk

Tutoring
sessions
Each student must have a tutoring folder made
up for each subject, every semester which is
referred to every time student comes in. (i.e.
Student A can have multiple subject folders)
Tutors go through upcoming test preparation,
review past test or quizzes, and review
subject matter, but do not do any homework
assignments.
Tutoring does not count towards any units.
The Learning Skills center monitors each
student through a “progress report card”
