The Federal TRIO Programs are educational opportunity outreach programs
designed to motivate and support students from under-represented
backgrounds. TRIO includes six outreach and support programs targeted
to serve and assist low-income, first-generation students,
and students with disabilities to progress through the academic pipeline.
Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in
their preparations for college entrance. The program provides opportunities
for participants to succeed in pre-college performance and ultimately in
higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from
low-income families, first generation families, in which neither parent
holds a bachelors degree. The goal of the Los Angeles City College Upward
Bound Programs is for participants to earn a baccalaureate degree.

WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE? |
|
|
Our program is designed to accommodate
underrepresented students as well as instill and promote higher academic
performance. We strive not only to provide students with the skills
necessary to succeed in high school but also to provide academic counseling
and financial aid information, so that they can further their academic career
at the college level.
