Saturday Academy is an important component of the UB program and all participants are required to attend. This is designed to provide supplemental instruction in the core subject areas such as Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and Computer Science. These courses of instruction are facilitated by high school instructors. Students will attend college and career planning classes specifically designed for each grade level.
UB SERVICES @ YOUR HIGH SCHOOL The Upward Bound Academic Advisors support and guide participants to pursue a postsecondary education. Academic advisement takes place through out the year at each of the LACC Upward Bound school sites. All students are advised to pursue the A-G requirements in order to be eligible for admissions to most four-year colleges and universities. Academic Advisors meet with participants to inform them of college credit courses that will allow them to receive both high school and college credit. Students are also informed on volunteer and community service opportunities, and receive assistance with registering for the PSAT, ACT, and SAT. Advisors will also discuss current and future class schedules, academic performance, tutoring opportunities, and provide educational, personal, and career advising.
