News and Events for the week of July 18

Good Monday Morning,

I am returning today from my two-week vacation. I highly recommend taking time away to refresh and recharge your batteries. I am ready to go with what lies ahead for us this fall. Our enrollment remains good, and we are focused on getting students back to campus with us. We have great activities happening on campus this summer. Think about joining us for some or all of them.

Debt-Free College Enrollment Day

On Saturday I attended a Debt-Free College Enrollment Day in Koreatown alongside Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, LACCD Trustee Kelsey Iino, Chancellor Rodriguez and Koreatown Youth Community Center Director of External Affairs Steve Kang. The event celebrated the inclusion of AB2266 in the new State Budget. The bill, known as “Free Community College For All”, extends the LA College Promise program, allowing all returning full-time students to community colleges completely debt free. A presentation on the popular transfer and certificate programs that LACC has to offer, assistance with the community college application process, financial aid application information, as well as other resources, were provided during the event. Thanks to everyone who assisted in the event.

Classes Available for Summer and Fall

Our second summer session begins today. Students can register for online, hybrid and in-person summer and fall classes now. Both the summer and the fall schedule of classes are in the student portal at mycollege.laccd.edu.
