News and Events for the week of November 14

Good Monday morning,

Last week, though challenging for us on many fronts, ended with honoring our military men and women who are here with us today and who have gone before for their service and sacrifice. We have four weeks left before the week of final exams.

LACC's Day of Gratitude

Tomorrow is our Day of Gratitude, where we will share a turkey lunch with all of the trimmings and give thanks for the family and friends we have who make our lives better. We have many local dignitaries who are joining us and we have a special guest, Mark Charles, who will speak from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. I hope you will join us.

Pop-up Food Pantry

Today we have our “Pop-up Food Pantry” outside the Student Union starting at 11am until all of the food runs out. Please let your students know.

Registration is Open for Winter 2023

We are in full registration for Winter 2023 classes. Spring 2023 is in priority registration for two more weeks. Open registration for Spring begins on December 5. Please encourage your students to register for classes for winter and spring as soon as they are eligible to register.

Counselor to College Summit

Tomorrow we have our LAUSD Counselor to College Summit in the Student Union. This has been a very successful event for us for many years and we welcome our high school counselor colleagues to campus to hear important updates from LACC and for them to have a beautiful place for all to meet together.

Memorial for Jemere Calhoun

We are in communication with Jemere Calhoun’s family to plan a memorial for Jemere. We will keep you updated on details as they come together. We are planning a vigil for the victim of the violent stabbing last Monday. Details will follow shortly.

Mindfulness Mondays

Day of Gratitude

Students are invited to a holiday luncheon with all the trimmings. Los Angeles City College Foundation, and LACC Associated Student Government will transform LACC's Kinesiology South Gym into a beautiful sit-down dining room.
