Learn about the opportunities granted to LACC Theatre Academy students after their time there.

One of our directing students, Mary Smith, took the opportunity to continue her directing career post-student directed one acts. She is bringing her play, Haiku by Katherine Snodgrass, to the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Watch this video to see the many ways in which the Theatre Academy can help their students achieve success even after their certificate process is completed.

And make sure to catch Haiku during the Hollywood Fringe Festival!

The playbill for HaikuMary Smith:  So I was able to put up "Haiku" the one act play, with the help of my school the LACC Theatre Academy. I took a directing class with Leslie Ferreira, and with the help of him and all of the techs here I was able to pick out the set and the props and do lighting and sound. And we did it with what we call the student directed one-acts, which was done over the winter session.

Now I am in the process of taking it to the Hollywood Fringe Festival this June. So I am directing it and producing it, so I get to see both sides of how that works.

LACC has been very helpful with me during this process. Leslie Ferreira encouraged me, along with the other student directors to partake in Fringe, and once I did decide to do Fringe they were very helpful in providing all of my sets, and all of my props for me, and getting me any of the sound cues I needed from them.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an anual open access community derived festival. Anyone can join, people do a lot of original work, or something like me where they are taking something they did previously and bringing it back.
