  • Beside making phone calls, the LACC phones can also be used to access the LACC Voicemail system.

Placing Calls

There are several ways to place calls:

  • Lift the handset and dial the number.
  • Press the Line button and dial the number.
  • Press the Speaker button and dial the number. If someone answers, pick up the handset to talk.
Dialing a Number
  • To call a phone inside campus, dial only the extension number (last four digits of the phone number).
  • To call a phone number inside the 323 or 213 area codes, dial 9 then 1 and then the area code before dialing the number.
    • Example: 9-1-323-953-4000
  • To call a phone number outside the 323 or 213 area codes, dial the operator at extension 2030.
Department Extensions

This information is for Extension Recorders.  The extensions referred to are department extensions, not individual extensions.

  1. Some extensions have a menu to reach other extensions or voice mails.
    If you need to record an extension's voice-menu, click here.
  2. Some extensions have only an informational message (without a menu or voice mail).
    If you need to record only an extension's message, click here.
  3. Some extensions have a voice mail (no menu).
    If you need to record a voice mail greeting, click here.
    If you need instructions on listening to the department's messages, click here.
Basic Features

The most common features are indicated below. There are several phone models in campus. Look at the tutorials for specific model details.

  • Footstand button: It is located on the side of the phone. Press to release the footstand.
  • Line button: Open the line to make or receive calls without lifting the handset.
  • Hold button: During a call, press Hold to put current call on hold or take a call off hold.
  • Transfer button: During a call, press the Transfer, dial the number. When the party answers, announce the call and press Transfer. Then, hang up. Press Hold to stop the transfer.
  • Settings button: Press the Settings to adjust handset, speaker and ringer volume, ringer type and LCD screen contrast.
  • Messages (Msgs) button: If you have a non-shared phone, press the Messages to access the Voicemail system.
  • Conference (Conf) button: After making the first call, press the more key below the screen. Then, press the Conf key and dial the second call. Once the second call is online, press Conf to join both calls. Continue doing the same for more parties.
  • Forward (CFwdAll) button: Redirect all your incoming calls to another extension.
    The calls will ring in the other extension but the voice mails are still recorded in the original original number. Remember to unforward your phone by forwarding it back to your extension number.

Adjusting the FootstandAdjusting the Height of the Footstand

Intstructions for models 7910, 7940, and 7960:

  1.  Push in the footstand adjustment knob on the right side of the phone.
  2. With the button depressed, adjust the footstand to the desired height.
  3. Release the footstand adjustment knob.
  4. Forcing the footstand will break it!
