52nd Anniversary Celebration Earth Day

Sustainability, Climate Change, and Our Environment

Earth Day is an annual event that occurs on April 22 to raise awareness on the importance of the environment and the impacts that humans have on the planet. The first Earth Day celebration started in 1970 in the United States and is now widely celebrated internationally involving millions of people around the globe.

Since 2005, Los Angeles City College has been celebrating and honoring Earth Day, highlighting the issues and detrimental impacts of Climate Change.

In honor of the 52nd Anniversary of Earth Day, LACC is inviting the public at large to come celebrate with us. Our theme this year is Sustainability, Climate Change, and Our Environment.

Some of the activities planned for this year’s event include:

  • Honoring Ron Finley (
  • Recognition of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles
  • Cooking Demonstrations / Healthy Eating
  • Turning Tap Water into Tasty Water
  • Amazing Earth Day Theme Art (Ceramics, Sculptor) Created by More Than 60 Students!
  • Edible Insects
  • Tour of the City’s Garden (LACC’s New Community Garden)
  • Student Posters That Address Issues Ranging from Climate Change to Sustainability
