Biographical Statement:

Professor Thomas Harte received his first double bass lesson during his final semester of high school and quickly discovered his love of low notes. The following fall, he enrolled as a Music Performance Major at Southeast Missouri State University in his hometown of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

After two years at Southeast Missouri State University, Professor Harte was accepted as a scholarship student of legendary bass player and teacher Homer Mensch at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he completed both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. While at Juilliard, Professor Harte was chosen to perform with the Juilliard Orchestra on a tour of Japan and Korea as well as the recording of "Concertos From My Childhood," with famed violinist, Itzhak Perlman.

Continuing his double bass performance studies, Professor Harte moved to Houston where he was a student of Paul Ellison and then to Los Angeles to attend USC's Thornton School of Music. Professor Harte earned an Artist's Diploma from USC, as a student of David Moore of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Choosing to remain in Southern California, he enjoys the diversity that being an L.A. musician brings. He maintains an active musical life and is equally excited to be performing in a concert hall or a recording studio.

Orchestrally, Professor Harte has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, New West Symphony, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Santa Barbara Symphony, and The Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music. As a recording musician, he can be heard on both movie and video game soundtracks. He has also recorded and performed with notable pop artists including Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Peter Gabriel, Beck, Wu-Tang Clan, OneRepublic, Madonna, and Sting.

Professor Harte lives in Los Feliz with his wife Leah and son Thomas III. When he is not playing the bass, he enjoys eating great food and exploring Griffith Park with his family.
