How to Apply to the CURE Program

Students majoring in science, math, or engineering who are enrolled in the CURE institutions listed below should contact the person listed for their school.
This contact will guide you to projects that have openings for students.
You will then be asked to submit a ONE PAGE resume in which you briefly detail your career and scientific goals, the classes and levels of courses you have taken, your work and relevant experience, and any honors, skills and achievements you think are relevant.
You should also submit a short essay (no more than one page) detailing what your short and long-term career goals are, and why you think you are a good fit for the particular project for which you are applying.
You may be advised to take classes or other training to prepare you for the summer program at JPL.

There is a summer-only option as well as a year-round program option. NSF student stipends are provided. Graduating seniors are not eligible. The program is restricted to US citizens or US permanent residents.

Students may continue in CURE for up to two years. Their participation ends when they transfer to a school outside of the CURE network. CURE participants will be required to present their work at a student research conference at JPL at the end of the summer. They will also be encouraged to present their work at local and national conferences. CURE provides an opportunity for undergraduates to form long-term working relationships with scientists at JPL. CURE interns will work at the JPL facility in Pasadena or at the JPL Table Mountain Observatory in the mountains above L.A.

What to Do When You Have Been Selected for the CURE Program

The CURE mentor at your school will tell you when you have been selected for the CURE program. Make sure your mentor has your full name and current email address. All JPL summer interns should get an email from the JPL Education Office with a password to the JPL badging website. Fill out the application form on the website. You will then receive an email from JPL Security instructing you to go to JPL to have your picture taken and to pick up your JPL Affiliate Badge. The Affiliate Badge is required for your internship at JPL.
