OSS Checklist for Success:

WELCOME FROM THE DEAN OF SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Welcome to the Office of Special Services! It is our sincere desire to help you achieve your academic and career education goals. Active participation in OSS will help you become an independent advocate for yourself and for other students with disabilities.

Academic advisement, counseling, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, exam accommodations, sign language interpreters, Braille transcription, learning disabilities assessment as well as other auxiliary aids and services are provided for eligible students. Please apply at OSS and meet with a qualified OSS professional to schedule and arrange these services. It is important to review your educational strengths, limitations, academic adjustment needs, and progress each semester that you are enrolled and to request authorized academic adjustments in a timely manner from your classroom instructors at LACC.

We strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to review the information in the OSS web site and to complete your OSS Application or Update. New students will need to complete the LACC and OSS Orientations, and make an appointment with an OSS Counselor to complete a Student Educational Plan and Academic Accommodations Plan.

If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact any of the personnel listed under OSS Staff. If you have or think you have a disability, please schedule an appointment with one of our OSS Counselors or Learning Disabilities Specialists.

Good luck with your educational career and/or transfer objectives at LACC!

From the OSS Staff

Academic adjustments and auxiliary aids and services are determined on a case-by-case basis by an OSS professional in conjunction with student dialogue, professional documentation, identified educational limitations, and the degree or extent of functional limitation associated with the student’s disability.

Program Learning Outcomes:
