The Veterans Resource Center - The VRC promotes an attitude of collaboration within the campus and surrounding community to increase awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning veterans. The goal of the program is to create an encouraging environment by acknowledging, honoring, and addressing veterans’ unique needs, while helping them attain their educational goals.

Program Learning Outcomes - Through active participation in Veteran services and programs offered through the VRC, students will:

  1. Discover campus and community resources available to veterans.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility through participation and involvement with the Veterans Club.  
  3. Demonstrate self-advocacy skills. 

Upcoming Events

  • Veterans Club - First Meeting

Join the Veterans Club! The first meeting is on Thursday, September 20 at 12:45pm - 1:45pm in the VRC. (make sure you pay your $7 ASG fee for the semester to join)

  • Transfer Day - Thursday, September 27

Meet admissions and veterans representatives from the UC, CSU, and private universities and colleges. Veteran specific information will be available.

  • Campus Tours 

Please check with the VRC about upcoming campus tours to local universities. 

  • Transfer Workshop

Learn more about the college application, how to apply, and tips on filling out your applications. ​Join the VRC and the Office of Student Life during one of the transfer workshops this Fall. *Dates and times will be posted soon...

  • We're MOVING!!!

The VRC will be moving to another location on campus in late October. Please check back for the location and our grand-opening event. 

  • Veterans Day Celebration and Wellness Day

Join us on Thursday, November 8 for our Veterans Day Celebration and on Friday, November 9 for our annual Wellness Day event at LACC. Our Wellness Day will include the Obstacle Course Competition between all LACCD colleges.

Educational Counseling

During Fall, educational counseling appointments are available for student veterans weekly in the General Counseling Department. To make an appointment, please contact the VRC on Thursday or Friday. Appointments are made for the following week. Students will check in with General Counseling at their appointment time (SSB, 2nd Floor, Window #11).


LACC participates in the VA VSOC program. The VSOC program aims to help student veterans and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers.  The VSOC counselor is available on Wednesdays from 8:30am to 4pm at the Veterans Resource Center.  Please contact the VRC to schedule an appointment.

Feeling stressed? Need someone to talk to?

U.S.VETS Outside the Wire provides free counseling and mental health services to student veterans and their family members.  Common reasons for seeking therapy include stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, difficulty with sleep or concentration, and problems adjusting to civilian life. A licensed psychotherapist from Outside the Wire is available on campus every Tuesday. To set up an appointment please email Helen Yum, LCSW at or call/text (323) 536-1767.
