Writing Support Services

Our peer writing coaches work with student writers at every stage of the writing process. Whether you’re just getting started, formatting citations, drafting, or revising, we can help. In-person appointments are held in AD 100, and online appointments are held on Zoom. Visit our Tutoring page for more information about tutoring.

For paper drop-off appointments, you do not need to be present at your appointment time. Your tutor will read a draft of your essay and provide feedback. Submit your essay draft and assignment instructions through your session chatroom in Penji. Ignore the pop-up and emails you will receive with a link to join a session (you will not need to join a session). Your draft must be 250 words minimum in order for a tutor to provide feedback.

Workshops are designed to help students with grammar skills and essay writing, and they are taught by faculty from the department of English and ESL. Check out our Workshops page for more information and a schedule.

Achieve is an online program that can help you with your grammar and writing skills at your own pace. Check out the Achieve page to get started.

Embedded Tutors help students succeed in English 101 by engaging in course activities and offering individual writing consultations in the Writing Support Center. Please see our Writing Support for English Classes page for more information. Visit your Embedded Tutor in the Writing Support Center to get writing help today!

The ESL Lab provides assistance for all students enrolled in ESL classes. The ESL Lab, located in Jefferson Hall 318, offers both in-person and online services.

Desktop computer stations and laptops are available for student use in the Writing Support Center in AD 100.
