Mission Statement

The LACC Social Science Department's primary mission is to facilitate the development of students from all walks of life so that they may know the true nature of our place on earth. We primarily construct our instruction with an emphasis toward transdisciplinarity education as a means to address the universal nature of knowledge acquisition.

Our secondary goal is to teach students three essential critical thinking skills (outcomes): analysis, evaluation, and inference. We do this so that our students gain the confidence to live richer lives and that they may transfer to universities or seek employment in their chosen careers. We are committed to alternative methods of instruction delivery, but challenge our students through traditional methods of instruction that are new to many of our first-time college population.

At City College, we truly believe that we are doing the work of the people.
