Consortium for Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE)
The Consortium for Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) site that offers research and training opportunities for motivated students selected from a consortium of Los Angeles-area community colleges. The program offers students paid internships at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA in the areas of astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, and space exploration.
Projects involve observations, image processing, data analysis, scientific programming, instrumentation development, or space missions engineering. Most projects are related to future or ongoing JPL missions.
There is a summer-only option as well as a year-round program option. The CURE program offers invaluable research experiences to community college students majoring in science, math or engineering who are enrolled in the following Consortium member institutions:
- Los Angeles City College (LACC)
- East Los Angeles College (ELAC)
- Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC)
- Pasadena City College (PCC)
- Victor Valley College (VVC)
- Moorpark College (MCC)
The program is restricted to US citizens or US permanent residents.
We thank our sponsor, the National Science Foundation, which funds CURE under Grant #1460538 to Los Angeles City College.
