Eric Banes

Eric Banes: 
Adjunct Faculty Member

Eric Banes, an adjunct faculty member in the LACC Radiologic Technology Program, has continued to utilize his expertise and passion for educating and inspiring students for 12 years.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in radiation science and licenses in Registered Technologist (R.T.), Radiation Therapy (R)(T), and Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD).

Beyond his academic accomplishments and teaching achievements, Eric maintains his supervision and patient care and safety administration employment role at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California.

Eric Banes is dedicated to positively impacting healthcare by empowering his students to become confident, competent, and compassionate radiologic technologists.


 

Aaron Burton: 
Adjunct Faculty Member

Aaron is the Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging. In addition, Aaron manages the Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound departments. Aaron has been employed at Kaiser Permanente - Los Angeles Medical Center (KP- LAMC) for over 30 years. Aaron's humble beginnings started as a technologist in general radiography, Interventional Radiology (IR), Computed Tomography (CT), and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and for the last 14 years as a department administrator. Aaron is an alum of LACC's Radiologic Technology Program and a California State University - Los Angeles (CSULA) graduate.

Vanessa Havakian: 
Adjunct Faculty Member

Vanessa Havakian is an adjunct faculty and a former LACC Radiologic Technology program graduate. Prior to attending LACC, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from CSUN. Her passion is to pay it forward and help new students find their path in the Radiologic Sciences field and guide them in the right direction. 


Fredrick Lee

Fredrick D. Lee II, MBA, MPA, R.T.(R), CRA, FACHE
Adjunct Faculty Member

Fredrick D. Lee II initiated his healthcare journey at Loma Linda University in the fall of 2000. While there, he earned his associate's in Radiation Technology in 2002 and a bachelor's in Radiation Science Administration and Education in 2006. Fredrick’s work experience includes general radiography, cardiac cath lab, and interventional radiology. He began his diagnostic imaging leadership experience at Antelope Valley Hospital as a supervisor in 2007. During the same time, he earned an MBA in marketing from the University of Phoenix, which he earned in 2008. He joined Kaiser Permanente's diagnostic imaging department at the San Diego Zion Medical Center in 2010. While at Kaiser, Fredrick rapidly progressed through diagnostic imaging leadership by holding roles as a supervisor, assistant director, and department director. Fredrick earned a master's in public administration in 2016 from the University of Texas at Tyler. In 2017 he was promoted to Regional Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging Services at Kaiser Permanente. Fredrick is pursuing a doctorate in organizational change and leadership at the USC Rossier School of Education, set to graduate in 2024. In addition, Fredrick is also a certified Emotional Intelligence Coach and leadership consultant.


 

Joyce Obeng: 
Adjunct Faculty Member/Acting Clinical Coordinator/Alternate RSO

Joyce Obeng is an alumna of the Los Angeles City College's Radiologic Technology Program (2014). Joyce has an A.S. in Radiologic Technology from LACC, B.S. in Medical Imaging and Healthcare Administration from Mercy College of Ohio (2017), and a Master's in Health Informatics from Loma Linda University, CA. (2019).

Joyce's key responsibilities include teaching part-time in the program and Clinical Coordinator.

Julie Washenik, RT (R)(M), MHA: 
Department Chair/Temporary Program Director/Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)

Julie Washenik is an alumna of the Los Angeles City College's Radiologic Technology Program (2014). Julie has an A.S. in Radiologic Technology from LACC, A.S. in Computer Science from La Guardia Community College, NY, B.S. in Digital Medical & Communications from NYU, NY, and Executive MHA from USC, CA. 

Julie's key responsibilities include teaching full-time in the program, and administrative duties as the Department Chair, such as program development and student learning outcomes.  Her priority as a leader includes inclusiveness, integrity, and the ability to train and mentor others to serve their community. Julie is also the current Work Environment Committee (WEC) Chair, and she sits on the District WEC Committee.
