Spring 2023 Commencement
Thanks to all who attended and participated in the 2023 commencement!
Now that the term has ended, we are waiting to received all final grades for all classes for Spring 2023. Once all grades are received, the Graduation Office will begin evaluating final grades and posting degrees. Grades are due one week after the end of the term, which is Tuesday, June 13.
For students that meet all the requirements by the end of any given term, degrees and certificates will be posted within eight (8) weeks after the final grades are posted for any given term. Once posting is completed, diplomas will be printed and student's will be emailed when they are available for pick up or mailing.
Tuesday, June 6th, 5 pm, Greek Theatre
Gates will open at 4:00pm. All seating is first come, first served. Students participating in the ceremony will be ushered in by Commencement Marshals.
All public information regarding the commencement ceremony will be available on this page. Any updates will be posted once that information is made available. Please keep an eye on this page for any updates.
All students who submitted a graduation petition by May 19, 2023 at 2:00pm will have their name printed in the commencement program.
Students who petitioned to graduate after the deadline are invited to participate in the ceremony, but your name will not be printed in the commencement program due to deadlines. All students who attend the ceremony can cross the stage and have their name announced.
All participating students will receive a diploma cover and a pin as part of the commencement ceremony.
Students who had received a degree for Summer/ Fall 2022 or Winter 2023, are also invited to the commencement ceremony.

Congratulations! On behalf of the entire Los Angeles City College community (LACC), I invite you to join us in celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2023, on Tuesday, June 6th at 5 pm at the Greek Theatre.
Our exciting ceremony at the Greek allows us all to salute your academic excellence and personal achievement. This is the time of year of great celebration for you, the faculty, staff, family, and friends. We are united by a shared sense of pride through your achievement.
Commencement marks the end of your time as an LACC student and the first day of your life as LACC alumni. I am very proud to welcome you to LACC’s alumni family. I invite you to remain engaged with the college and the Alumni Association.

List of 2023 Graduation Candidates

Graduation RSVP
For the 2023 Commencement ceremony, RSVP is not required. Gates to the venue will open at 4:00pm. All seating is based on a first come, first served basis.

Participation Eligibility
Students are eligible to participate in graduation if they have filed for graduation and successfully completed the requirements for an Associate in Arts Degree, Associate in Science Degree or an ADT. Degree conferral is contingent upon final grades from the Fall 2022 semester for December graduates and from the Spring 2023 semester for June graduates. Admissions and Records will process final evaluations after all Spring 2023 grades are posted and processed within the LACCD. If you are not sure if you have completed the graduation requirements, please check in with the LACC Academic Counseling Dept.
Acknowledgment of Honor Students
We are proud to recognize the academic achievement of our honor graduates. Your name will be in our graduation program booklet. You will receive a gold honor cord to wear during the Commencement Ceremony. The gold honor cord is a gift from the Associated Student Government and may be picked up from the LACC Bookstore.
Summa Cum Laude
A distinction awarded to students who graduate with a 3.9 or better scholastic average in coursework taken in the LA Community College District.
Magna Cum Laude
A distinction awarded to students who graduated with a 3.7 or better scholastic average in coursework taken in the LA Community College District.
Cum Laude
A distinction awarded to students who graduate with a 3.5 or better scholastic average in coursework taken in the LA Community College District.
Graduation Rehearsals
One rehearsal was held on campus to prepare candidates for graduation to participate in the Commencement Ceremony: Tuesday, May 9th from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Location: Student Union (SU) 3rd floor Multipurpose Room. RSVP not required.
There will be no further rehearsals.
Assembly
The graduation ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00pm with the processional. Gates will open at 4:00pm. Please arrive by then.
Please consider the type of footwear worn as the Greek Theatre is situated in a hilly area with inclines and declines.
Graduates should assemble on the south side of the Greek Theatre. There will be signs directing you. Arrive at the Greek Theatre in your cap and gown. Honor students will line up at the head of the lines and then remaining graduates will line up thereafter. Students with mobility-related disabilities who are unable to walk into the theater will be seated prior to the beginning of the ceremony. Procession Marshals will circulate through the line and distribute name cards. If you want to sit with your friends, make sure that you stand behind the person, not side-by-side.
Candidates for graduation will be given a name card while waiting in line to process into the theater. You will need to clearly print your name on it and keep the card with you until you walk onto the stage. Give the name card to the announcer at the podium. Announcers/staff will keep the card and give it to the photographer at the end of the ceremony. Announcers have been instructed not to read additional comments written on the cards.
Limit the number of items you carry with you in the procession and to your seats: : When returning from the stage after your name is announced, you will return to the same row, but not necessarily to the same seat.
Balloons, confetti, and umbrellas are not allowed inside the Greek Theatre. Please share with your family and friends. Check out the Greek webpage regarding allowable items and those not allowed.
Commencement Ceremony
Commencement will be in the GREEK THEATRE located in Griffith Park at:

The 2023 ceremony will not be streamed online.
Guests
There is no limit on the number of guests that are allowed to attend. The ceremony is open to the public. All seating is first come, first served.
Please check the Greek Theatre website for more information on their code of conduct policy, as well as a list of items that are allowed in the venue.

Parking
Parking will be FREE for all students and their families. There are no buses that travel to the Greek Theatre. No shuttle service will be provided by LACC. Graduates and guests should park south of the Theatre. There will be parking attendants to direct you. Please read posted directional signs.
Graduation Tickets
Tickets are not required for this event.
Students with Disabilities
If you will need assistance at Commencement, please complete the following online form Assistance for Graduates with Disabilities or you may call the Office of Special Services to leave your name, ID number, email address, and phone number to request assistance. Ceremony Live Stream
For the 2023 commencement, there will be no live stream. The ceremony does not require any tickets and is open to all guests and family members.
Graduation Regalia
Caps and Gowns are currently in the LACC Bookstore and on their website LACC Cub Store.
Candidates must wear the college black cap and gown to participate in the graduation exercises. The Cub Store has a list of students who can receive a cap and gown for graduation. If your name is not on the list, please contact admissions and records in person or by email to admissions@lacitycollege.edu to verify your graduation status to receive a cap and gown.
Tassels are to be worn on the right side of your cap until instructed to switch during the ceremony.
Nursing Program graduates will wear a white sash and all other graduates may purchase an optional souvenir sash at the LACC Bookstore later this spring.

If you participate in a special program, such as EOPS, please contact the program regarding possible assistance with cap and gown purchases.

LACC Bookstore will sell caps and gowns, along with other items for the commencement ceremony at the Greek Theatre. Sizes cannot be guaranteed if purchasing at the Greek Theatre, so please order ahead of time. You can pick up your cap and gown at the bookstore until 12:00pm on June 6. Afterwards, you will have to purchase items at the Greek Theatre.
Only cash will be accepted at the venue for any LACC Bookstore purchases.

Class Rings
Rings for Class of 2023 are available to order through the LACC Bookstore in the Student Union. Brochures will be available at the ceremony. You can also go their website to order and view.
Diplomas
Diplomas will be available in September 2023.
At the ceremony, students will receive a diploma cover. The Graduation Unit within the Admissions Office will notify you by email when your diploma is ready to be picked up. Degree conferral is contingent upon final grades from the Spring 2023 semester or from the final semester you attended. Please contact Admissions and Records at admissions@lacitycollege.edu for questions regarding degree pick-up starting in Fall 2023 for degrees earned in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Graduation Photographs at the Commencement Ceremony:
Ultimate Exposures will be taking Cap and Gown photos again on May 24th from 11am-3pm at the Student Union 2nd floor conference room. Students can sign up and reserve a time for their photos using this link: Cap and Gown photos reservation.
Ultimate Exposures will provide gowns for the shoot for any students that have not yet purchased one. You may use the information below to set up a reservation or to reach out for more information.
Ultimate Exposures will be taking pictures at the Commencement Ceremony. Photographers will take pictures of each student as they receive their in-lieu diploma. If you provide contact information on the name card, Ultimate Exposures will send photo proofs to you. You are under no obligation to purchase photos. If you have any questions after the ceremony regarding Commencement photos, please contact Ultimate Exposures at (818) 781-9530.
