Welcome to the LACC Dental Prosthetic Technology Department!

The Dental Technology Program at Los Angeles City College was founded in 1965 and received full accreditation from American Dental Association (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) in 1967. The program maintains its full accreditation to the present, remaining as one of the 11 accredited programs in the country and one of the two in California.

Dental Prosthetic Technology is the intersection of science, technology, and art, adhering together to create beautiful smiles."

The Dental Prosthetic Technology Department operates under well-equipped and highly specialized facilities, where instructors are able to demonstrate, instruct, and train students in basic and advanced dental technologies.

The Program includes instruction in Digital Dentistry, the Computer Application Design (CAD) and Computer Application Manufacturing (CAM) applied to fixed and removable dental prosthesis including implant prosthodontics.

The total number of students enrolled in LACC Dental Prosthetic Technology courses annually fluctuates between 100-150.

Each fall, a cohort of 15 students is admitted into the program. The students who apply for admission to the Dental Prosthetic Technology Program are multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic and of varying ages and academic backgrounds.

The program offers a learning atmosphere of support, guidance, and immediate feedback to maximize the student’s potential to succeed in the dental industry. The learning process is cumulative, experimental, uses current instructional theories and resources, and involves active student-instructor participation.
