LACC Theatre Academy


The culmination of theatre training is presenting public performances. The spring 2023 season kicks off with a presentation of one-acts directed, performed, and designed by the students of the Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy: Student Directed One-Acts March 2-4, 2023

About the LACC Theatre Academy
The Theatre Academy at Los Angeles City College is one of the most highly respected theater training institutions in the United States. Since its founding in 1929, this professional Theater training program has been dedicated to developing the skills, crafts, and attitudes of students to prepare them for careers in professional theater, as well as television, film, and other areas of the entertainment industry.
Professional theater training is offered in three areas or concentrations:
All prospective Academy students are required to apply for admission to the Theatre Academy.

A School for Scandal
Acting Program Applicants
- Acting candidates are required to audition and/or interview before being invited to train at the Academy.
- Those interested in auditioning for the LACC Theatre Academy should fill out the Online Acting Program Application. They will then be contacted by phone with an audition appointment.
- The LACC Theatre Academy will accept online auditions. In an online Zoom audition, we ask the actors to perform one monologue (2 min) instead of two.
- Next scheduled audition time: TBA
- If accepted to the Academy, students must also apply and be accepted to Los Angeles City College.

Costume Program Applicants
- Please review the scope of the Costume Program
- Costume applicants will interview before being accepted to the Theatre Academy.
- Submit Online Costume Program Application
- Applicants will be contacted by the Head of Costume for an interview appointment.
- If accepted to the Academy, students must also apply and be accepted to Los Angeles City College

Technical Theater Entertainment Technology Applicants
- Please review the scope of the Technical Theater Entertainment Technology Program
- Those interested in applying will also be interviewed before being accepted to the Theatre Academy.
- Submit Online Technical Program Application
- Applicants will be contacted by the Head of Entertainment Technology for an interview appointment.
- If accepted to the Academy, students must also apply and be accepted to Los Angeles City College

What's Next?
Students completing their training will have developed a respect and appreciation for all aspects of Theater, and strengthened their talents and skills to move directly into the profession.
